  • Description

By  A.E.Waite and Pamela Coleman Smith.
    78 cards and a 100-page guidebook included. Card size: 70 x 120 mm

The box reads: “This design Tarot Deck has been originally made by Pamela Coleman Smith under the instruction of Arthur Edward Waite. We have digitized the card graphics to bring you crisp, vectorized images on quality card paper”

    John says:

This tarot deck is simply gorgeous. You can see and feel the quality straight away. The images are clear, bright, and colorful. The character images are nicely detailed, and all have a more natural face color than in the original deck. The card stock is excellent, and the cards shuffle well. This version has a much better guidebook which includes color images of the cards. This deck is also free of any distracting branding. This is the best quality tarot deck featuring the Smith Waite designs that I have seen.

The Rider Tarot is probably the best known and is certainly one of the widest used tarot decks in the world. Numerous tarot books have been produced over the years, most of which base their teachings on this tarot deck.

Previous tarot decks tended to feature a more simplistic design in the Minor Arcana (Suit/Court cards). The Rider Waite Tarot Deck was one of the first tarot decks to feature figurative pictorials with several layers of meaning.

This new emphasis on imagery and design led to the Rider Waite tarot deck becoming hugely popular as people all over the world were able to resonate with these cards and learn so much from them. Since then, a great many other tarot card decks have been produced, many of which are heavily influenced by the Rider Waite deck.

The images in the Rider Waite tarot cards illustrate the different layers of meaning in each tarot card perfectly, which makes them ideal for anyone wanting to learn about tarot, while they’re intricate and symbolic enough to satisfy any professional reader.

Note: The Original Rider-Waite tarot deck was published by Rider & Co. in 1910 and the current version is available in my shop in another listing. The original designs by Pamela Coleman Smith used in this tarot deck are in the public domain.
